The Universe and You series

Have you ever wished for something and then when the opportunity arises, you give all the excuses why not to do the thing you wished for? Well that’s what this is about. In this new series we give powerful points in funny scenes. Today it’s Cake Day!

It was in Canada. My family and I had been watching an inspirational series by Kyle Cease. He talks a lot about how the universe is always trying help you realize your potential while you ignore it. One night my mom and I came up with this wacky idea. What if we did a video series about the Universe? We had so much fun coming up with ideas for videos that two months after, a few days before we set off on our 2019 nomadic trip, we put it to action.

Picking up some costumes at the party store and gathering up with a few friends at school we made it happen. This particular video was actually the first idea me and my mom had for the Universe and you series. You know when you say “I could really use a _____________ (fill in the blank)” and then when it shows up, it’s not the way you want it and you sabotage yourself. So we decided to remake that scene… but with cake.

The plot was the guy says he wants Cheesecake. When the universe shows (after his momentary shock) up he starts making all these excuses why the cake wasn’t “perfect”. And that’s the point when… well, I’ll let you see it.

When we pitched the idea one of my friends Seth actually volunteered to do this part because it involved getting smacked in the face with Costco cheesecake. If you’ve seen the video, you’ll know what I mean.

It was so fun to make. The storyline, the laughter. We had such a great time. Beforehand I had actually wondered if I should even do the shoot at all. But in the end I’m glad I did. We made three Universe and You episodes in this shoot.

Now, if you ever have excuses for when opportunities show up, take them, or you might get smacked in the face with cake.
