ANIMALS: A New Generation, Book Excerpt 2

This is the second book excerpt from my book ANIMALS: A New Generation. When I was 10 years old I had an idea for a book (I actually had a lot of ideas, but this was one of the first ones I acted on).

My book, Animals, is a story about a 16-year-old boy named Aiden who discovers that he’s part of a centuries old lineage called the Animal Elders. The Animal Elders are warriors that can transform into their spirit animal.

Joining up with a girl who seems to know a lot, and a mysterious bird, they come together to form the new generation of Animal Elders… just in time to stop the evil forces arising. Excerpt

“Who are the Animal Elders?” Aiden asked.

“I’ll explain inside.”

“And…um. What was that back there?” Aiden said pointing behind him.

“What was what?” the bird asked. Although Aiden wondered if the bird knew full well what he was talking about and was toying with him.

“The weird disappearing and reappearing act. First there was no temple, then I walked forward and it appeared,” Aiden said still dazed.

“It keeps this place hidden from the outside world. The temple has been here for centuries hiding in plain sight. That’s why you haven’t heard of it before,” the bird explained.

“So it’s kind of like a cloaking device?” Aiden asked.

“In some aspect. But it’s not a device. It’s created by the magic of all living things around us,” the bird said.

“Right.” Aiden said a little unconvinced but non judgmental. I mean, how could you judge a talking bird that led you to a hidden temple?
